Me @ Craters Of The Moon.

Me, originally uploaded by arnab.ghosh.

The camera was on auto timer on the hood of my car. I tried to strike a pose against a very strong wind, hoping the wind will not push my camera off the hood. CLICK!

The destructive power of nature

If only we could harvest the destructive energy...75000 acres of burnt earth...destroyed by a volcano ..its a lot of energy!

Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve is one of the best places in the world to see the awesome effects of volcanism. For 15,000 years, lava eruptions have created a landscape that has forced animals and plants to adapt, and people to endure or detour, and to ponder.

The monument is part of the Snake River Plain, a volcanic terrain that spans all of southern Idaho. In places, this plain is 60 miles wide and drilling into it has shown its lava deposits to be over 10,000 feet deep in some locations. Eruptions that took place 2,000 years ago at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve are the most recent volcanic activity to take place anywhere in this immense geographic area.

Today at Craters of the Moon, you can explore such features as cinder cones, spatter cones, lava tubes, and several types of lava flows. You can also have the unique opportunity to encounter the plants and animals associated with the varied lava habitats, enjoy hiking on a variety of trails, or enjoy the solitude and beauty of this incredible place.

There is a small platform which takes you a little closer to the awesome waterfall.

A small house just beside the water fall

By the way I did spot a house beside the falls and was really eager to see what it would be like from inside, and how it will be to stay in that beautiful place.

Shoshone Falls, is one of the two falls situated in Twin Falls, Idaho. The city was named after the two water falls, unfortunately one was used for irrigation purposes and we are left with this one.

From My Balcony

Testing my new camera, originally uploaded by arnab.ghosh.

Lets start from the very begining, this is what I generally get to see when I come out to my balcony a little before sunset. Those of you are wondering, this picture was taken in Boise, Idaho.

My First Entry

Its been three months in the United States Of America, I have been spending my weekends by travelling to places, places which are not so known (atleast at my home country).
This blog of mine is an effort to capture some of the awesome beauty of remote places ... A tribute to nature!
